All earwax removal procedures are carried out by qualified technicians, either in clinic or in the comfort of your home. During your appointment, your hearing professional will show you clear before-and-after images of your ear canal using our in-ear camera.
On the rare occasion that complete wax removal isn’t possible in one visit, we’ll invite you back to the clinic for a follow-up appointment at no additional cost.
Microsuction Earwax Removal at Home
We offer professional microsuction earwax removal in the comfort of your own home. Some people naturally produce and retain more earwax than others and may require regular cleaning. When earwax becomes excessive or impacted, it can completely block the ear canal and lead to hearing loss. Microsuction is the safest, most effective, and most comfortable method of earwax removal.
The procedure uses a specialised, low-pressure suction device to remove wax quickly and efficiently, often delivering instant results — many people notice an immediate improvement in their hearing. A video otoscope is used throughout the appointment to capture clear before-and-after images of your ear canal and eardrum.
To ensure safe and effective treatment, you must apply a wax-softening preparation, such as olive oil drops (e.g. Earol), twice daily for one week prior to your appointment. Properly softened wax is essential for the procedure to go ahead.
Microsuction
Microsuction is our preferred method of earwax removal as it is non-invasive, comfortable, and highly effective. It is also cleaner and significantly quicker than traditional irrigation.
To help ensure easy and successful removal, we ask that you apply olive oil drops to your ears for at least 2–3 days before your appointment, though a full week is ideal. For anyone with a known middle ear condition or a perforated eardrum, microsuction is the only suitable method of wax removal.
Earwax
Earwax is completely normal and varies from person to person. It is produced naturally to protect the ears, helping to trap dust and prevent infection. In most cases, earwax clears naturally without causing any problems.
However, some people are prone to a build-up, which can lead to blockage and require professional removal. Symptoms of excessive earwax may include itching, hearing loss, tinnitus, earache, ear infections, and even vertigo.
Our before-and-after images clearly demonstrate just how effective professional earwax removal can be.
